Meet Zing

At 30 cm tall, Zing is a compact humanoid robot with 17 degrees of freedom. Students can explore how programmed movements, joints and sensors work together, then use Plode to capture and program actions.

Key features

30 cm humanoid form

A compact physical robot for hands-on robotics exploration.

17 degrees of freedom

Articulated joints make coordinated movements possible.

Movement exploration

Zing can walk, squat and turn its head.

Onboard sensors

An accelerometer, gyroscope and ultrasonic sensor bring motion and distance into projects.

Plode programming

Move the motors and capture movements to program robot actions with Plode.

Connected learning

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity support interaction with the robot.

Classroom ideas

Suggested activities to explore with your educators.

01

Sequence a movement

Invite students to plan a short movement sequence, test it and refine the order.

02

Explore balance and motion

Discuss how joint positions affect a humanoid robot’s movement.

03

Investigate sensor input

Use distance and motion sensing as a starting point for guided investigations.
